Introducing: The Blue Dragonfly Series

Tom and the Dragon is just the first volume in an exciting three-book saga.

Readers know that on the title page, right under "Tom and the Dragon," are the enticing words, "The Blue Dragonfly Series: Book 1." Now everyone else knows, too! Why blue dragonflies? You'll have to read the books for the answer!

The other day I alerted Amazon (and all who encounter the book there) that TATD is part of this series. (Here is the link they posted.) I did so after finishing the first draft of Book 2 last Saturday! There's still a ton of work to be done on this second book in the series (editing, design, contacting reviewers, etc.), but I thought you would like to know that real progress is being made. Ultimately, I hope that this will be a three-book fantasy collection.

I'm not going to spill the beans on the sequel's title or plot at this point, but I'm happy to let you know that this second book is a sequel that is really a prequel to TATD. Another exciting and fun read, it lays the groundwork for TATD, exploring the history of Vandar and explaining how and why certain things happened in the first book. You'll also run into some of my favorite characters from the first book, including, Tom, Mugwump, and Edwyn the Seer (his friends call him Ed).

But this prequel, like TATD itself, stands firmly on its own two feet. You will be able to read it first, second, or all on its own. While the books reinforce one another, they are not dependent on one another. Both have fascinating characters (old and new), huge stakes, moral development, and nonstop action.

Once we get closer to publication, I will divulge more info on Book 2, including the title, perhaps a preliminary cover image or two, and other stages of the publishing process. I hope to get the manuscript out to reviewers before publication in order to garner some publicity in the wider world.

Thank you so much for your support, and please keep spreading the word and writing those reviews!

In other news, Christine and I are working right now on a Kindle version of TATD and expect it to be ready in a week or so. While I much prefer physical to virtual books because studies show they usually provide a better reading experience, I know that many people prefer the convenience of an e-reader. And given the sad fact that so few people actually read books these days, I'll gladly take readers wherever I can find them. I'll let you know when the Kindle version is available.
