The Origin of Isabella’s Special Days
I read many fairy tales to my kids. But I also created some of my own — because I wanted to bless, entertain, and connect with my children.

We all cherish wonderful children’s stories—such as Goodnight Moon, Where the Wild Things Are, Winnie the Pooh, The Hobbit, Peter Pan, and Charlotte’s Web. I read many of them to my kids. But I also created some of my own tales for them—not because my creations were better, but because I wanted to bless, entertain, and connect with my children. And because I loved to create whimsical fairy tales—and still do!
I wrote this book, Isabella’s Special Days, for my daughter about twenty years ago. Now that she has her own lovely little girl (who also likes princesses) along with two boys, I hope she will get as much joy in telling this tale as I did in sharing it the first time. Except for some relatively minor editorial changes, the book is the same as it was two decades ago. The gorgeous artwork, of course, is new.
Sometimes the best children’s stories start in the heart of a father … at bedtime.
