I'm excited to tell you that the first draft of my sequel to Tom and the Dragon is completed! The major editing is also done. It's right at about 60,000 words, with a prologue and thirty-two chapters. TATD has about 57,000 words and thirty-eight chapters—so it will still be easy to read a chapter to your kids at bedtime.
What's the title? I'll let you know closer to the Amazon publication date, which I hope will be in January 2027. Why am I waiting ? First, Christine has not started on the cover. Second, I want to build a little suspense. Third, I want to give reviewers plenty of time to put this new book on their schedules. Fourth, I want each volume of this planned trilogy to come out in consecutive years—2026, 2027, and 2028.
While I'll give more details later, here are some clues about what you'll find in this book, besides the humor and excitement you've come to expect from me. It's actually a prequel—though it stands on its own. (You'll get a few more aha moment if you read TATD first, but this isn't required.)
You'll learn lots more of the history of Vandar, Edwyn the Seer, Tom Gordon, (Prince) Eldred, and King Galedel. There's also a rumor that a certain hungry troll shows up. Plus, there's a raft of interesting new characters and locations, new dangers, and fresh friendships. If you love TATD, you'll love this book, too!
So stay tuned for more info about this book, Vandar, and how you can help spread the word. Thanks so much for your interest and support!
